In a major step to further strengthen its global connectivity, Saudi Arabia’s top low-cost airline, flynas, has extended its reach to Russia, announcing new direct routes between Saudi Arabia and major Russian cities such as Moscow and Saint Petersburg. This is an important step in the airline’s overall efforts to link Saudi Arabia with important international destinations and reinforce tourism relationships between the Kingdom and Russia.
As part of its strategic long-term growth plan, flynas will introduce a Moscow–Jeddah route on December 23, three times a week between Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport and Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport. This follows the recent launch of direct flights between Moscow and Riyadh in August 2025 by flynas as the first-ever scheduled flights between Russia and Saudi Arabia by a Saudi airline.
Strengthening Tourism and Cultural Ties Between Saudi Arabia and Russia
The new routes are designed to make it easier for Russian tourists to visit Saudi Arabia and for Saudi travelers to explore Russia’s unique destinations. Russia is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and vibrant cities, all of which are now more accessible to Saudi visitors thanks to these new connections. By increasing direct flight availability, flynas is enhancing opportunities for both leisure and business travelers to explore both countries.
For Russian tourists, the direct flights provide an excellent opportunity to visit Saudi Arabia’s iconic landmarks, including the historical city of Riyadh, the sacred city of Mecca, and the thriving Red Sea coast. Additionally, the Kingdom’s growing focus on eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and luxury resorts aligns perfectly with the preferences of Russian travelers, who are increasingly seeking new, culturally rich travel experiences.
Expanding Travel Options for Russian and Saudi Tourists
In 2026, flynas will further extend its reach by launching new services from Riyadh to Saint Petersburg and Sochi, two of Russia’s most popular tourist destinations. Saint Petersburg, known for its magnificent architecture, world-class museums like the Hermitage, and its rich cultural scene, is an ideal destination for Saudi visitors interested in exploring Russian history and culture. Sochi, famous for its resorts and Black Sea beaches, offers Saudi travelers a more relaxed vacation option, blending outdoor activities with luxury leisure.
In addition to these new destinations, the frequency of Moscow–Riyadh flights will increase to daily operations in 2026, giving both Russian and Saudi tourists greater flexibility and choice in their travel plans. This growth in flight frequency will likely attract more visitors to both countries, making it easier for people from Russia and Saudi Arabia to immerse themselves in each other’s cultures and destinations.
Promoting Saudi Arabia as a Premier Destination for Russian Tourists
With the recent growth in Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector, the introduction of direct flights to Russia comes at a pivotal moment. As part of its Vision 2030 initiatives, Saudi Arabia has been positioning itself as a premium tourism destination for international travelers. The country’s new tourism infrastructure, including luxury resorts, modern airports, and a growing number of cultural and entertainment offerings, is making it an attractive destination for Russian travelers seeking adventure, cultural exchange, and a luxury travel experience.
The direct flights from Moscow and Saint Petersburg will encourage Russian tourists to explore Saudi Arabia’s diverse tourism offerings, from the historical significance of Mecca and Medina to the stunning landscapes of the Red Sea coast and the vast deserts of the Kingdom. As Saudi Arabia continues to focus on sustainable tourism and heritage conservation, it provides a unique and authentic experience for Russian visitors seeking a deeper connection with the region’s culture and history.
Fostering Business and Cultural Exchange
In addition to tourism, these new routes will also facilitate business travel, enabling professionals from both Russia and Saudi Arabia to explore opportunities in sectors such as trade, investment, technology, and energy. By providing more accessible travel options, flynas is fostering a greater exchange of ideas, trade, and commerce between the two countries, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a business hub in the region.
Furthermore, the direct flight expansion comes at a time when both nations are keen to strengthen cultural diplomacy and people-to-people ties. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to boost international cultural exchange through initiatives like the Saudi Film Festival and art exhibitions, which will benefit from the influx of visitors from Russia. This cultural exchange will foster mutual understanding and build long-lasting relationships, which will also have a positive effect on the tourism sector.
Enhancing Connectivity and Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030
flynas’ new routes are part of the broader efforts to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global tourism hub. With an ambitious goal to attract 150 million tourists annually, the country is focused on building stronger global air links and expanding its presence in key international markets. flynas is playing a key role in this strategy, contributing to the Kingdom’s national aviation strategy to connect Saudi Arabia with 250 international destinations and accommodate 330 million passengers annually.
The direct flights to Russia also align with the Air Connectivity Program, which is aimed at enhancing global connectivity and increasing tourism revenue. The collaboration between flynas and tourism authorities in both countries is pivotal in making Saudi Arabia a top choice for international travelers while strengthening the country’s economic and cultural presence in the global tourism landscape.
A New Era of Connectivity Between Saudi Arabia and Russia
The introduction of direct flights between Russia and Saudi Arabia is a significant milestone in the increasing business and tourism relations between the two countries. By providing additional travel options, flynas is facilitating Russian tourists to access Saudi Arabia’s high-end resorts, cultural heritage sites, and adventure tourism attractions, while offering Saudi tourists the opportunity to explore Russia’s cultural and natural wonders. These new destinations to Saint Petersburg and Sochi, and additional frequencies to Moscow, flynas is not just boosting tourist links, but also boosting the Kingdom’s vision of becoming the world’s top tourism destination by 2030.
